Overview
This guide configures a Como gift so that, when a customer redeems it from the Gift & Rewards page in the Frontend, the gift's product is added directly to the Basket without the customer searching for it. Configuration spans two phases: the gift is set up in the Como portal, then a single check confirms the Gift & Rewards page is available in the Frontend Plugin Configurator in Navigator. It assumes an environment where the Como integration is already Active.

Prerequisites
- Como integration Active — the Como integration is Active for the environment. See Como: Onboarding and Supported Features.
- Como portal access — you can sign in to the Como portal (Como's own back-office application) to configure gifts. Exact Como UI steps are covered by Como's own documentation.
- Navigator access — the operator needs access to the Frontend Plugin Configurator in Navigator, or a route to request these changes from Future Ordering; see Managing access to Navigator applications.
-
Core
comoloyalty plugin Active — this plugin provides the Gift & Rewards page where customers redeem gifts. For what it does and how to access it, see Como Plugin for Points & Rewards (Gifts).
Steps
To add a redeemed gift's product directly to the Basket, configure the gift in the Como portal and confirm the Gift & Rewards page is live in Navigator. The steps below use these terms. For full definitions, allowed values, and constraints, see the Feature article Como - User Journey Engagement Frontend Plugins.
- ItemsSelection — a Como gift flag that lets Future Ordering identify which product the gift discounts. Automatic addition to the Basket does not work without it. See Como - User Journey Engagement Frontend Plugins.
- Free item — the Como discount type that grants a product at no cost. See Como - User Journey Engagement Frontend Plugins.
- Single product — the only product type that can currently be configured to be added to the Basket automatically. See Como - User Journey Engagement Frontend Plugins.
Phase 1 — Configure the gift in the Como portal
This phase configures the gift in the Como portal so that Future Ordering can identify its product and add it to the Basket on redemption.
- In the Como portal, open the gift you want to add to the Basket automatically.
- Enable the ItemsSelection flag on the gift.
- Under Discount, set the discount type to Free item.
- Choose the target product as a Single product and set the quantity.
Phase 2 — Confirm the Gift & Rewards page in the Frontend Plugin Configurator
This phase confirms in Navigator that the Gift & Rewards page is shown to customers in the Frontend, where the gift is redeemed.
- In Navigator, open the Frontend Plugin Configurator.
- Confirm the core
comoplugin is Active for the environment.
Expected Outcome
A customer opens the Gift & Rewards page in the Frontend and redeems the configured gift. The gift's Single product is added directly to the Basket, without the customer searching for or selecting the item.
Verify the Configuration
Confirm the behaviour works end to end before relying on it in production:
- In the Frontend, sign in as a test customer who is eligible for the gift.
- Open the Gift & Rewards page and redeem the configured gift.
- Confirm the gift's Single product appears in the Basket automatically, at the configured quantity, with no search or manual selection by the customer.
If nothing is added to the Basket, see the Troubleshooting section below.
Known Limitations
- Only the Single product type can currently be configured to be added to the Basket automatically. This is a known limitation; development is ongoing to support further product types.
- If multiple product IDs are entered on the gift, only the first is added to the Basket automatically.
- Automatic addition requires the ItemsSelection flag on the gift. Without it, Future Ordering cannot identify the product and nothing is added.
Note: This list reflects the limitations identified as of 11 June 2026. Additional limitations may exist that have not yet been identified.
Troubleshooting
If redeeming the gift from the Gift & Rewards page adds nothing to the Basket, confirm the gift has the ItemsSelection flag enabled and that its Free item target is a Single product. For the full set of gift-redemption checks, see the Troubleshooting article Gift product will not auto-add to the basket on redemption [to be created].
